Part-Time Social Media Specialist*

Job Brief

We are looking for a part-time, self-motivated Social Media Specialist to attract and interact with targeted virtual communities in the lacrosse community. Approximate hours: 15–20/week 

What does a Social Media Specialist do?

Social media specialists should have a solid understanding of how each social media channel works and how to optimize content so that it is engaging on those channels. You are responsible for joining relevant conversations on behalf of Swax Lax and soft selling our products by providing support to current and prospective customers.

Responsibilities

  • Build and execute social media strategy through competitive research, platform determination, benchmarking, messaging, and audience identification
  • Generate, edit, publish and share timely content (original text, images, video) that builds meaningful connections and encourages community members to take action
  • Look for ways to optimize company pages within each platform to increase the visibility of company’s social content
  • Seek and incentivize user-generated content and keep content in line with the moderation policy for each community
  • Create editorial calendars and coordinate social efforts with other email and marketing efforts
  • Continuously improve by capturing and analyzing the appropriate social data/metrics, insights, and best practices, and then acting on the information
  • Communicate regularly with the team to stay abreast of what’s going on in the company (new product releases, marketing plans, blog posts, etc.)
  • Serve as the lead liaison between the company and its Donation and Sponsorship recipients

Requirements

  • Proven working experience in social media marketing or as a Digital Media Specialist
  • Excellent consulting, writing, editing (photo/video/text), presentation, and communication skills; ability to work remotely and independently
  • Demonstrable social networking experience and social analytics tools knowledge
  • Adequate knowledge of Google Workspace, Slack, CRMs (ActiveCampaign), Canva, or similar collaboration tools
  • Knowledge of online marketing and good understanding of major marketing channels
  • Positive attitude, detail and customer oriented with good multitasking and organizational ability
  • Lacrosse player or familiarity with the sport of lacrosse a plus

Swax Lax® is committed to offering safe, innovative lacrosse products, services, and teaching guides that encourage lacrosse players to become more self-confident as they develop their skills on and off the field. Our first product, Swax Lax lacrosse training balls, offers players the opportunity to learn and practice the sport with less fear and more confidence.

Swax Lax has a variety of internship opportunities available to help students gain real work experience in a team sports atmosphere. Sure, the sports industry is fun, but we work hard at developing and marketing products that people can enjoy together, as a family, as friends, and as a team.

Internships at Swax Lax require:

  • Working towards a business or communications degree or related field with a GPA of 3.0 / 4.0 or higher
  • Strong analytical, communication, organization, and research skills
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to manage projects from inception through execution
  • Ability to take direction or work autonomously when needed
  • Proficient in Google Business Suite. Knowledge of Slack and the ActiveCampaign CRM a plus

Photographer / Videographer

Looking for an internship in the lacrosse sports industry? Do you have a good eye for photography and creative development?

Swax Lax lacrosse training balls and Swax Lax Lacrosse camps and clinics are the two sides of a small entrepreneurial sporting goods company that creatively uses social media and the Internet to sell and market their products to grow the game. The brand is looking to expand its library of lacrosse images and short video, capturing action, hard training, and the joys of the sport.

We are looking for a part-time, short-term summer intern with a visual arts background that can help get all the compelling reasons to play the sport on camera. Think Scorcese. Think Bigelow. You’re visually creating stories, interviews, and setting the tone for the brand. You’re seeing opportunities available and taking them during camps and clinics, in and around the field, and also for product stills.

What we are looking for:

  • Creative photographer dedicated to capturing a range of images from still product shots to play action photos
  • Videographer with the ability to capture the unique benefits of the Swax Lax training ball
  • Ability to edit video and retouch still images
  • Command of the social and digital communications channels and the use of imagery
  • Hours estimated at 5 hours per week for 2 weeks

Internships at Swax Lax require:

  • Interest in pursuing a career in photography/videography
  • Proficient in Photoshop/Lightroom
  • Demonstrated experience in photography and photo editing
  • Strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to manage projects from inception through execution
  • Ability to take direction or work autonomously, when needed
  • Proficient in Google Drive organization a plus
  • Ability to get to Summit NJ; camp locations are within a 1.2 mile walking distance of Summit NJ train station

You will be asked to submit samples of your best action and still (sports) photography/videography as well as any other work that demonstrates your creative abilities.
