Most of us have said this while watching a lacrosse game or practice when a player gets hit with an errant pass or shot. We make light of the incident but the pain and discomfort to the player can be significant, maybe to the point of discouraging players from continuing to play the great game of lacrosse.

On August 5, the 2016 summer Olympics kick off in Rio, and we’re eager to watch our favorite athletes represent the USA! But wait, where’s lacrosse on the roster of events?

Lacrosse was an Olympic sport in the 1904 and 1908 summer games. Canada, the USA, and Great Britain competed in men’s lacrosse, and Canada took the gold each year (although Great Britain only competed in the 1904 competition).
